McCarthy Wants to Keep Capers

When I first read this, I was like seriously?! I can respect Mike McCarthy's high views of Capers. If you have someone on your team, you raise that guy up. It's part of being a team. If you don't do that, the team is going to suffer. I think the reason why he asked if Capers was going to stay, is because of earning a Super Bowl back in the 2010 season. However, the defense hasn't performed these last 3 years.

During the season ending press conference, McCarthy stated,“I’m not looking to make big changes. I think Dom Capers is an outstanding football coach and I’m glad he’s on our staff." Many Packer fans disagree. Packer fans have him to thank as part of the reason why they won Super Bowl XLV back in the 2010 season. At that time, the defense was ranked 1st in the NFL.

The last 3 years have been devastating though (Defensively that is). In the 2011 season, the defense finished dead last as 32nd. 2012 was an improvement, but not much. In 2013, last I heard it was ranked 26th. At this point, I think Capers has done what he can to make The Packers a championship caliber defense, but it's just time to make adjustments.

The Packers have been beating themselves these last 3 seasons. Aaron Rodgers and the receiving core has been nothing but outstanding, but the team can't just rely on the passing game. There are big hopes for next year though. The offense has a running game again with Eddie Lacy in the back field, and Micah Hyde on special teams has had some impressive run backs. Now, it's time to get that defense back to the way it was in 2010.
